The creation of the Care Standard for Chronic Pain
Work has been ongoing since 2013 to create a standard for the treatment of chronic pain. Much knowledge has already been accumulated in recent years on how chronic pain occurs. The Care Standard for Chronic Pain was adopted in spring 2017. This Care Standard contains a description of the processes in the human body that can lead to chronic pain. The Care Standard also describes the most appropriate treatment process.
The Care Standard was compiled based on the joint input of almost all professional groups of chronic pain practitioners. These do so together with many patient organisations made up of patients with chronic pain. These patient organisations all represent the interests of pain patients. Many of these patient organisations are affiliated with the Collaborative Pain Patients to One Voice (SWP).
